Traveling with only a carry-on saves money on fees, time at baggage claim, and the risk of lost luggage.
A simple system
- Pack for a week, not the trip. Do laundry halfway through.
- Pick one color palette so everything mixes.
- Wear the bulkiest items (jacket, boots) on the plane.
- Use packing cubes to compress clothes.
- Liquids: many airports limit cabin liquids to 100 ml containers in one bag, though some airports with new scanners allow more. Check your departure airport, and use solid toiletries.
Know your limits
Carry-on sizes vary by airline; budget airlines are strictest. Check dimensions and weight limits for every airline on your trip, including the return.
