More countries now ask visa-free visitors to get an online travel authorization before flying.
- United States: ESTA for Visa Waiver Program travelers.
- United Kingdom: ETA, now required for most visa-free visitors, including Americans and Europeans.
- Canada: eTA for visa-exempt visitors arriving by air (U.S. citizens are exempt).
- Australia: ETA or eVisitor, depending on nationality.
- European Union: ETIAS, an authorization for visa-free non-EU visitors, introduced after the Entry/Exit System. Check the official EU site for the start date and current status.
Avoid copycat sites
Unofficial sites charge several times the official fee. Apply only through the official government website or app. Fees and rules change, so check the current requirements before you book.
